WE ARE A SITE THAT IS SUITABLE FOR AGES 13+. IF YOU ARE YOUNGER THAN THIRTEEN, PLEASE DO NOT JOIN UNTIL YOU ARE THIRTEEN.
Why? Because we do have violence and gore within the forum along with mild use of profane language.
1. Literacy
We have role-players of all different levels, so don't feel like you won't fit in (whether you are just starting out role-playing, or you are advanced). However, we don't accept people that repeatedly use one-liners onto our roleplaying boards. We understand if you are new to role-playing (everyone is at some point). But if you cannot meet our word post minimum (see rule #2 )on the boards (or you have trouble with grammar, etc.) we will ask you to use the Training Grounds until you improve. Our Training Grounds are designed to be fun. They are mini-RPG's that you make up, and have other people join. You can read more about our Training Grounds feature here. Or, if that doesn't suit you, you may want to start out with a one-on-one role-play with someone more advanced than you are, someone that you are comfortable with helping you develop your writing skills. With that being said, all Staff members are more than happy to give this service.
Please, remember to proof-read your post before submitting it. Also, spell-check; use it. Enough said.
ABSOLUTELY no text-talk in your role-play.
Example: He wlked in da forest n went up to her n said, "hey wat r u up to?"
Chat-play isn't tolerated either.
Example: *He moved over to allow her to sit down* What ya doin’? *His tail wagged*
2. There is a 300 word minimum AVERAGE regarding in-character role-play posts.
We have a word counter tabbed on the bottom right corner of where you write your post. Please check it each time before you post(and make sure it is on the 'word' tab and not the 'character' tab)! We are not super strict about our 300 word rule, as long as you can average that or more. We believe that aiming for less isn't much of a challenge and doesn't open a window big enough for much self-improvement. We highly encourage going above and beyond, but we do not require it. If you can't average a 300 word post, that doesn't mean you can't be here! We have a Training Grounds board for members who cannot yet meet the 300 word average. There you will do role-plays with another member (such as a staff member) who can help you improve. It is a friendly environment, so don't be afraid to ask about it!
3. Character Actions
No god-modeling. This means your character can't be miraculously invincible. No power-playing. This means you can't post how someone else's character is harmed/acts/thinks/feels, unless this person gives you permission to do so.
Example of god-modeling: Someone is trying to attack your character, but somehow your character miraculously maneuvers their way out of every attack. This isn't realistic! Work with the other person to decide how the fight will go.
Example of power-playing: (A being your character, B being someone else's): A attacks B and rips open B's throat, blood spilling everywhere as B writhes helplessly in the dirt. B dies.
Acceptable Behavior: A lunged for B, intending on ripping the wolf’s throat out. However, he was a little off-balance so he wasn’t sure if his attack would hit his target dead on.
B, seeing that A was lunging for him, tried his best to dodge the attack. He could see that the other male was off-balance. Trying to use that to his advantage, he stepped to the side as quickly as he could. Unfortunately, off-balance or not, the other wolf was smaller and faster than he was. A’s attack glanced off his flank, causing a small gash in his side.
Wolves, obviously, are not mind-readers. They cannot, at any time, know what any other wolf is thinking or feeling. They cannot just “sense” things are happening from miles away.
For example, if one wolf is sleeping snugly in its den, and the other wolf is drowning in a river three miles away, the sleeping wolf cannot just wake up suddenly and go, “Oh no! A wolf is drowning. I must help,” and then dash off to the scene of the tragedy. No. No, no, no, no, no, no. Please, for the love of your administrators’ sanity, do not do this.
4. Setting
Areas, surroundings, weather, and the like are all predetermined by the administrators and cannot be changed without permission. End of discussion. If I find a character that constantly changes things that affect all other characters in the role-play without permission, the player of this character will be warned and then suspended (possibly banned). Experiences in the past have made this an absolute deal-breaker. A wolf cannot be wandering out and just randomly stumble upon a human city where there had been wilderness only moments before. This just does not work. Please ask an administrator if you are unsure about the setting. If you want to add something to the roleplay, you must discuss it with an administrator, who will decide if it will work in the plot or not.
5. Character Creation
Be realistic in the making of your characters.
We have a variety of packs here; each one is unique. Naturally, there will be a certain type of wolf each pack will be looking for. It is okay to add diversity to each and every pack, but please read the characteristics and guidelines that we have provided for you for each of our packs. This will help in the placement of your characters.
6. Role-playing Threads: Creation and OOC
Do not post out of character on the role-play threads, unless you are adding a note about your post in PARENTHESES at the bottom of your entry.
Do not post threads on the role-playing boards unless you have been given the "OK" by staff to do so.
GENERAL RULES AND GUIDELINES FOR THE ENTIRE FORUM
1. Out of Character
Here at Rem, respect goes a long way. We don’t just expect it, we require it. All members must respect one another, within the c-box and in any and all role-plays. If we find anyone being disrespectful, action will be taken. You will issued a warning first and, if that doesn’t faze you more dramatic steps will be taken, such as suspension and/or banning. If we feel that you were too disrespectful the first time, we may ban you without warning. If you do something to get yourself banned, you forfeit rights to your characters(they may be edited and put up for adoption).
If you’re having trouble with any particular member (including staff members), you have two options.
1. Try to solve the problem through PMs civilly. If it becomes too much of a problem, please forward all messages to an admin.
2. Contact a staff member and let them handle it for you.
If you fail to do so and decide to argue with this person and create further problems, the situation will be reviewed as a whole and you may or may not be banned yourself. But, please, we want to avoid this situation as much as possible. We highly suggest contacting a staff member.
2. Censorship
Swearing is not banned here, but we will warn a member if they excessively use it. We discourage profanity here because we want you to be more creative than a simple word. But the words we accept within the role-play are: shit, piss, fuck, ass, bitch. We are all mature enough to handle these words, but remember we will warn you if you use these words in excess.
Also, please refrain from cursing on the chat-box. Keep in mind that we DO have younger members. However, we cannot control your actions, and furthermore we are not responsible for them. You will be suspended, if not banned, for excessive use of profanity in the c-box.
3. Absences/Inactivity
If you are going to be inactive and/or absent for 14 days or more, regardless of your situation, we require that you notify us on the absences board (however we do like it when we're notified even if it's not going to be up to 14 days). You are not required to shell out any/all of the details of your absence, but some information would be appreciated.
If you are inactive for more than 14 days or more without letting us know in advance of your absence, you are risking your characters. We will place your character(s),that do not have plot importance, in the 'Character Archive' board and label them as inactive. They will be there for you when you return, but you may lose pack status (we may be able to come up with a creative way as to why your character is no longer the 'alpha female' or whatever they were, but if not they might be killed). Any plot important character(s) that cannot be replaced, will be put up for immediate adoption, so that we do not have to compromise the plot. People in charge of your character(s) will be expected to follow whatever character information you gave in the character profile. But you cannot fully expect someone to get it right 100%(something new might have happened to your character, that you weren't planning on, etc.), so keep that in mind. Once/If you return, you will get all of your characters back.
We do not do this because we aren't concerned if you just 'disappear'. We will do what we can to contact you and make sure you are all right (and most of us will most likely become worry warts and start a manhunt for you). But there is only so much we can do, and the role-plays can't just come to a halt. It would destroy the activity of the entire forum.
If you have not LOGGED IN within 30 days, we will delete your account. We will try to contact you by email before doing so.[/b]
